Introduction
ClassCAD is a CAD engine without a user interface. Your program builds and changes models through its API: parts, sketches, features, assemblies and drawings. The engine computes the geometry and returns it ready to render.
It runs in two ways, with the same API:
| WebAssembly | Native | |
|---|---|---|
| Runs | in the browser, in a Web Worker of your page | on your server; the ClassCAD server starts an engine per session |
| Connect | new WASMClient(id, { token }) | new SocketIOClient('ws://…:9091', id) |
| Key | fetched with a public access token | fetched with a secret access token; offline, a key file next to the engine |
| Allowed | localhost; your domains with Pro and Business | any machine you run it on, with Business |
| Used for | configurators and editors in a web page | services, batch jobs, large models, many users |
A program written for one runs on the other; only the line that connects changes.
const part = await api.v1.part.create({ name: 'Flange' })
- WebAssembly: the engine in the browser.
- Native engine: the engine on a server.
- API reference: every method, by domain.
- Plans: what each plan allows.
